KNF recommendations on insurance distribution
Reports 15.09.2026
The Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) has issued new Recommendations for Insurance Undertakings on Insurance Distribution. They are designed to unify insurers’ application of regulations, eliminate irregularities in insurance distribution, and combat the offering of insurance products that don’t align with customers’ needs.
The 30 main recommendations (accompanied by more detailed recommendations) cover such areas as:
- Duties of the management board and supervisory board
- Organisation of distribution activities
- Structuring of insurance products to generate value for the customer
- Assessment of customers’ demands and needs
- Cooperation with agents, brokers and other undertakings distributing insurance products (including under an embedded insurance model)
- Group insurance policies
- Managing conflicts of interest
- Internal control systems.
Implementing the new recommendations may force insurance undertakings (including foreign ones operating in Poland) to make major changes to their organisation and products, particularly in the areas of designing insurance products and assessing their value for customers.
The details are examined by experts from the firm’s Insurance practice: Mateusz Kosiorowski, Mateusz Muszyński, Anna Szczęsna, Klaudiusz Mikołajczyk and Łukasz Sekielski.
