Marek Górski

Environmental law, administrative law (procedural and substantive)

Prof. Marek Górski specialises in environmental and administrative law. For over 30 years he has advised on environmental liability and environmental risks.

He assists clients in problematic issues associated with the circular economy, waste management, biodiversity, industrial emissions, liability for environmental harm (soil and groundwater contamination, injury to natural resources), and water law issues. He has extensive experience in protection of the marine environment.

He supports businesses in the real estate development process, particularly in environmental impact assessment proceedings.

He supports clients in complex proceedings before the environmental protection authorities and the administrative courts.

He participated in creation of the system of new environmental protection regulations in Poland (the Environmental Protection Law, waste management acts, the Water Law, and the Nature Protection Act).

He teaches at the University of Szczecin and the University of Łódź, and is the author of numerous monographs and statutory commentaries.

1981 – defence of doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Łódź, awarded the title of doctor of legal studies

1993 – awarded post-doctoral degree in legal studies at the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Łódź, based on the monograph Environmental protection as a task of the public administration

2006 – awarded title of professor of legal studies

Member of the team of advisers to the Environmental Protection Committee of the Polish Senate, adviser to the Minister of Environment (1998–2014)

Vice-chair of the team appointed by the Minister of Environment for improvement of legal regulations for handling of communal waste (2013–2014)

Member of the State Nature Protection Council (1997–2004) and the Łódź province nature protection commission (1991–1999)

Chair of the commission for environmental impact assessments under the Łódź regional director of environmental protection (2014–2022)

Member of the State Environmental Protection Council (2014–2018)

Professor of the University of Szczecin (since 2002)
