Proseat was established in 2003 as a joint venture between the Belgian foam manufacturer Recticel and US-based foam specialist Woodbridge. In 2019 Japanese chemicals supplier Sekisui Kasei acquired a majority stake in Proseat, and in 2022 it became the sole shareholder. Today, Proseat is a leading specialist in automotive seat foam parts and lightweight components made of expanded polypropylene (EPP). Proseat supplies a wide range of clients across Europe, including the Volkswagen Group. The Proseat Group employs over 1,300 people at six plants, including three in Germany and one each in Spain, Czechia and Poland.
Brose Sitech, established in 2022 as a joint venture between Brose and Volkswagen, specialises in the development and production of complete seat systems for automotive manufacturers. In Germany the company operates major plants in Wolfsburg, Emden and Coburg, employing about 2,300 people and supplying just-in-time and just-in-sequence seat and cockpit systems to Volkswagen Group plants.
