Growth of the law firm, new equity partners and contract partners

The increasing importance of cross-border M&A and investments, the internationalisation of commercial relations on a European scale and globally, and technological changes largely shifting commerce into cyberspace, present challenges to law firms that they must rise to if they are to effectively assist their clients in the 21st century.

Our law firm is striving to meet these challenges, among other things by promoting professional development programmes enabling our partners and other lawyers to practise law internationally. We assist them in gaining professional qualifications in other EU countries and admission to practice in common-law systems. The Anglo-Saxon legal tradition has an overwhelming influence today in shaping law practice, particularly in the fields of cross-border investments, arbitration and litigation. A consequence of the firm’s growth in these fields is an increase in the group of equity partners and contract partners. These new partners are leaders in our activities outside of the Polish jurisdiction, and in the field of technological innovations changing the world economy and the way law firms operate.

The equity partners have been joined by adwokat Krzysztof Wojdyło, who created the firm’s New Technologies practice. Thanks to his commitment, the firm has become a cofounder of the Coalition for Polish Innovations and a partner in the MIT Enterprise Forum acceleration programme for startups, affiliated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, among other initiatives.

Another new equity partner is Anna Dąbrowska, an attorney-at-law from the M&A and Corporate practice who recently qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales. (She is not currently practising as a solicitor, but the number of lawyers at our firm who have completed the QLTS programme leading to this qualification is steadily growing.) On an everyday basis, Anna handles large and medium-sized transactions and builds our relations with foreign law firms.

Dr Szymon Kubiak, a Harvard graduate and attorney-at-law, has also become an equity partner. He is a specialist in the international dimensions of employment law. Szymon coordinates the firm’s activities on international markets and is responsible for development of contacts in various jurisdictions, enabling the firm to effectively cooperate with our foreign colleagues to guarantee skilled legal assistance for our clients outside of Poland.

The contract partners have been joined by adwokat Stanisław Drozd, who has qualified as a solicitor-advocate and assists our clients in domestic and international arbitration proceedings and cross-border disputes. (Stanisław is not currently practising in England, but has strong knowledge enabling him to advise clients in conjunction with colleagues practising in common-law jurisdictions.)

Adwokat Dr Marcin Lemkowski has also become a contract partner. In the Litigation, Arbitration & Mediation practice, he combines huge scholarly accomplishments with experience leading difficult civil cases. Marcin is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of our civil-law practice.

New contract partners Michał Gliński and Michał Wons, attorneys-at-law, are expanding the firm’s practice in the field of real estate development projects, with particular attention to the role of investment funds in this sector.

Adwokat Dominik Wałkowski has become a new contract partner, heading our Environmental practice in both Polish and international dimensions. Dominik has unique experience in the law of the sea, particularly with regulations governing offshore operations.
