Wardyński & Partners advises ABP Food Group

ABP Poland sp. z o.o., a member of the ABP Food Group, is expanding its operations in Poland. It has acquired a production plant in Kłosowice, Wielkopolska province. The closing was in December 2013.

ABP Food Group has been present on the Polish market since 2011. It has a production plant in Pniewy, 50 km west of Poznań, where it employs over 130 people. Following significant capital expenditures, including installation of a new production line in May 2013, the plant in Pniewy has become one of the highest-output meat processing plants in Europe.

The plant in Kłosowice is located about 30 km from the Pniewy plant. After launch of production there, ABP Poland sp. z o.o. expects to increase its employment to 250.

“Poland is the second-largest exporter of beef on the European market, after Ireland, and this growth will enable ABP Poland to further strengthen its position as a sustainable supplier of high-quality beef to customers throughout Europe,” said Paul Finnerty, CEO of ABP Food Group. “When we entered the Polish market, we intended to build a large-scale business, and the recent acquisition is a continuation of that strategy.”

ABP Food Group processes a million cattle a year at production plants in Ireland, the UK and Poland. It is the largest processor of beef in Ireland and the UK and one of the three largest in Europe. According to the company, the plant acquired from the Italian group Ferrarini will enable an increase in the production capacity of ABP Food Group in Poland to over 100,000 cattle annually.
