Wardyński & Partners represents the Academy in dispute over the Oscar® trademark

The court has approved a settlement reached in mediation after suit was filed against the Polish Cooperative Council (Krajowa Rada Spółdzielcza), in which the defendant has undertaken to cease using a designation infringing the Oscar® trademark.

This is one of many cases in which our firm has successfully represented the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The longstanding dispute concerned the Polish Cooperative Council’s use of the designation “Oscar of Polish Cooperativism” for nationwide competitions and awards. The settlement was reached during mediation ordered by the Polish Court for Community Trademarks and Industrial Designs.

The Academy was represented by Włodzimierz Szoszuk and Norbert Walasek.
