The pulp and paper plant in Kwidzyn includes a pulp mill and four integrated papermaking machines for producing cardboard and paper. Two of them are Europe’s finest machines for producing uncoated wood-free paper, with a combined annual capacity of 410,000 tonnes.
About 2,300 people work at the plant. In 2020 the company generated sales of about EUR 510 million, with adjusted EBITDA of EUR 92 million.
In cooperation with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, the firm is advising Mayr-Melnhof Karton on all Polish aspects of the transaction. The firm’s work on the deal is supervised by Anna Dąbrowska and Bartosz Kuraś, and other lawyers involved in the project include Antoni Bolecki, Ewa Nagy, Dominik Wałkowski, Radosław Wasiak and Marcin Wujczyk.
The closing is planned for the 3rd quarter of 2021, after obtaining the relevant approvals.
